Lattix Introduces New Approach at the Design Structure Matrix (DSM) International Workshop
Cambridge , UK , 13 Sep 2004. Today Lattix demonstrated a new technique based on dependency models for understanding and managing large complex software systems. Dependency models have been pioneered by systems engineering in order to model complex organizations, processes and systems. Lattix is the first to commercially apply Design Structure Matrices (DSM) to represent complex software systems. DSM is particularly useful for modeling software architectures because it is built around a precise decomposition of a system into its components. The simplicity and compactness of DSMs also makes it easy for stakeholders to visualize the overall architecture.
Lattix demonstrated its new Lattix LDM product to build the Dependency Model for ANT, a widely used open source tool. Using Lattix LDM, Lattix illustrated the evolution of ANT’s architecture and identified how subsystem coupling frequently increases over time.
